This trip was the fulfillment of a long time personal ambition. We started at the yard at North Vancouver with a rebuilt RS18 and worked our way along the main line to Prince George. We got a brief look at the Royal Hudson along Howe Sound, then concentrated on the freights which are mostly led by the C40-8CM cowls, which we thought were handsome units. The scenery was just magnificent, especially the Fraser Canyon north of Lillooet, making for some stunning views of the trains clinging to the mountainside. We were thrilled to find a pair of C-420's switching at Prince George, and couldn't resist a quick trip to Tacheeda to catch CN handing a coal train over to the electrics This is a fascinating and unique railroad, you'll Iike it as much as we did. 2 Hours. |
