Los Angeles opened its new Gold Line light rail system on July 26, 2003. The 13.7 mile line is built on the right of way of the former Santa Fe Pasadena Subdivision. In this video you will see the entire line from Union Station to the end at Sierra Madre Blvd, including rock steady cab rides end to end in both directions! The video also includes extensive line side coverage showing you the downtown elevated section through Chinatown, the new bridge over the Los Angeles River crossing the Amtrak, Metrolink and Union Pacific tracks, and scenes along the beautiful right of way winding through the trees and residential sections of Lincoln Heights, Mount Washington, Highland Park, the high bridge over Arroyo Seco, South Pasadena, Pasadena, and scenes of the operations in the center of the I-210 freeway. In addition to the main program, there is an extended bonus section featuring the grand opening festivities for the VIPs and the media at L.A. Union Station, a look at some of the souvenirs, press releases, and other "goodies" given out by the MTA, a map of the line, and a gallery of still pictures, including some of the NIMBY signs seen along the right of way. The video is 90 minutes in length, plus bonus features, and is packaged in a durable plastic library case with a printed color cover. Video digitally recorded and mastered, with Hi-Fi stereo sound and limited narration. Approximately 90 minutes. |
