73 - World's Scenic Railway DVD

3 Programs on one DVD!

Enjoy three spectacular White Pass & Yukon feature programs in the eye-popping sharpness of DVD. Ride with the engineer in Engineer's Point of View to experience the thrill of this railroad from the locomotive cab and listen to the engineer's stories about railroad operations.

You'll enjoy the history of this international treasure in Gold Rush Railroad. Don't miss rare historical motion picture footage, some in color! See steam and diesel locomotives, a rotary snow plow, and freight as well as passenger trains. Learn how this railroad helped build the Alaska Highway during World War II and how it reduced the 6 month ordeal of travel to the Klondike gold rush to a 6 day journey.

Watch Scenic Railway of the World for a guided excursion on a railroad that hangs from mountains decorated with waterfalls, lakes, glaciers, forests, eagles and bears. The DVD includes an additional 9 minutes in three short specials that are not on the VHS-tape set that we also offer. One special is on the restoration of the rotary snow plow, another on steam loco 73 and the third on the Gold Train that ran all the way from Skagway to Carcross in 1997. The producer of these programs lived in Whitehorse and spent a decade shooting this footage. Living near the railroad allowed him to shoot footage in the best weather possible, images you don't want to miss on DVD.

146 minutes.

Minnesota Steam Spectacular

Come along and join C. Vision Productions as we capture the finest steam action in the Land of 10,000 Lakes! 2003 and 2004 was an exciting time for steam enthusiasts in Minnesota as two classic locomotives pulled excursions on Canadian Pacific rails.

Milwaukee Road #261 returned to its home rails on Canadian Pacific’s River Sub in October of 2003. This line is the old Milwaukee Road main line from the Twin Cities to Chicago. The 261 once pulled freight on these rails and this excursion was the first time the engine rolled down these tracks since being rebuilt.

In the summer of 2004, Canadian Pacific’s Hudson #2816 paid a visit to Minnesota for several excursions. We capture the 2816 as it pulled a special for the Milwaukee Road Historical Association on the River Sub. Then the 2816 joined with the 261 for a double header excursion for the National Railway Historical Society and the 2004 Grand Excursion on the Mississippi River.

C. Vision cameras don’t stop there. We follow the 2816 on a journey over the C.P.’s Paynesville Sub as the Hudson heads for home in Calgary. Then, just when you think all the action subsides, we add a bonus scene with Canadian Pacific’s F-Units leading a Kentucky Derby Special in the spring of 2003 over the Paynesville Sub.

You’ll feel “right there” as you view great steam and diesel action, all with natural sounds and no narration. Enjoy the beauty these locomotives display in “Minnesota Steam Spectacular!”

Natural Hi-Fi Sound, No narration
Running time 79 minutes

Pikes Peak By Rail DVD

Travel to the top of America's most famous mountain by train as it climbs from 6,500 to 14,110 feet above sea level. There are 1933 motion pictures of steam as well as new scenes of restored steam loco number 4 with its distinctive compound sound. Watch 60-year old motion pictures of steam locos pushing flat car plows into snow drifts 14,000 feet above sea level. Marvel at the railroad's first rotary plow and see the new rotary chew through the drifts. All 3 generations of the railroad's diesels are represented. Start with 1930's motion pictures of railcar number 7, the railroad's first non-steam car. Watch power evolve through the 1940's GE diesels and coaches, the first Swiss 80 passenger rail cars and end with today's 216 passenger articulated giants. Includes color footage of these newer trains being tested on the Arth-Rigi Bahn in Switzerland. The shop removes a diesel engine and the track crew changes out a tie...dealing with the intricacies of the rack rail. You'll get three bonus productions. All Aboard for Eureka chronicles the railroad at Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Scenic Railroad of the World covers the world-famous White Pass and Yukon. The Georgetown Loop Railroad entertains you with the history and restoration of that famous Colorado narrow-gauge railroad. 130 minutes. Enabled for all regions.

All Aboard For Eureka

The Missouri and North Arkansas was an almost 400-mile long railroad from Joplin, Missouri to Helena, Arkansas. A few miles of this railroad is preserved as the Eureka Springs & North Arkansas. You'll see a 2-6-0 built for use in Panama and re-gauged from 5 feet to standard gauge. Watch the loco spun on a turntable and see it disappear in a cloud of steam as it's boiler is blown down while it waits on a trestle. The yard at Eureka Springs is full of interesting equipment including a wood burning locomotive. Dinner is served in an elegant dining car with flowers on the tables and baked Alaska in the shape of a steam locomotive! The program also includes an interesting history of the town of Eureka Springs, illustrated by almost 100 historic photos. Eureka Springs was founded in the last century as a source of "healing waters". Today, Eureka Springs hosts over one million visitors annually. Although trains no longer carry visitors to Eureka Springs, the Eureka Springs and North Arkansas Railway carries visitors on excursions into the Ozark countryside. 30 minutes. Also see the Pikes Peak By Rail DVD.
