This video covers a section of railroad which is one of the busiest in the United States, the former Chicago and
Northwestern line from Chicago west to Omaha and Fremont. The line handles Chicago commuters as well as transcontinental
freight traffic, and we'll see both in this video, which was done in 1993 before Union Pacific had complete control of
the C&NW. There is a wide variety of motive power, ranging from 1950 GP7s to new diesels built in the 1990s. Our video
was shot during the 1993 flood so we are lucky to see a very interesting side-show, the California Zephyr detouring over
the C&NW with Metra E-units leading the train.
We'll see Proviso yard in Chicago where we visit the hump and container
yards, then see commuter action, including a cab ride. You'll see hot spots like Rochelle, Illinois where the C&NW and
BN diamond features loads of action. Then we take you westward through Illinois, and Iowa to the better locations such
as Boone, and the Kate Shelly Bridge, and onwards to Missouri Valley where the C&NW splits to go to Omaha or due west
to Fremont and the Union Pacific connection. This video covers 3 complete divisions in 3 states and multiple cameras
were used. Over 10 other railroads can be seen during the course of the video, and we even include a couple of
historic flashback surprises. This video is actually TWO videos, a 90 minute, and a 60 Minute tape contained in
one special case for a total of 2 hours and 30 minutes of great action.
2 DVDs in one special case. 150 Minutes. $49.95
