BURLINGTON THUNDER
EMD SD70-MAC's
Once again we go back to SD-70 Mac's. The SD-70 Mac's were the first diesel locomotives in America to have in mass, the new
swivel radio trucks. It's a self-steering truck on the locomotives that facilitates the locomotives adhering better to the curves
at speed and otherwise. Robert thought it would be neat since these are alternating current locomotives to have the thunderstorm
in the background to reflect the AC technology. This particular train is the Houston Power Light train coming from the Powder
River basin, specifically to the power facility in Houston. There are several of these train sets that run every 24-hours;
it's a continuously run operation. They come down the joint line from Wyoming, go through Denver, and come down the joint
line through Pueblo and Trinidad, and on into Dalhart, Texas, into Amarillo, and from there subsequently into Houston. In this
particular view, the locations is somewhere between Dalhart, Texas and Amarillo, Texas.
