PENNSYLVANIA MEMORIES I
Princeton Junction, New Jersey Circa 1960
This painting shows a father and son on the east end of the tracks watching the Southbound Broadway Limited as it rushes past the
station platform at 110 miles per hour. This print draws on the relationship that exists between father and son as well as the
relationship with the model locomotive and the prototype The model in the Boy's hands is Lionel's version of the prototype
locomotive, the Pennsylvania GG1 #4911 with the father pointing as if he were saying, "Look son there is the real thing".
Also in this scene is Pennsylvania's standard MP-54 motor car, affectionately referred to by Princeton college students as
the "dinky". The dinky was utilized to ferry students from Princeton junction train station to Princeton University located
3 miles to the west of the Pennsylvania mainline. The time frame of this is Christmas 1960.
